Water costs are rising sharply.

Aging water and sewage systems were not designed to support the relentless demand caused by population growth. EPA is enforcing more stringent environmental regulations, but has significantly decreased funding for infrastructure renewal. The cost of upgrading or replacing overburdened water supplies and wastewater treatment facilities falls on taxpayers, local companies and institutions.

The costs of delivering more water from limited supplies are going up. Clean water, wastewater treatment and utility fees also continue to increase to cover the growing costs for processing and delivering potable water.

Increasing water rates as well as sewer costs

have ballooned operating budgets for commercial, industrial and institutional businesses. Aggressive water conservation efforts can also reduce sewage, pretreatment, and energy costs.
Commercial water conservation seeks to use water only where it is needed and only in the amount necessary.
